The Taiwanese Ministry of Finance April 27 explained tax incentives for voluntary retirement pension contributions. The announcement clarifies that: 1) taxpayers may deduct voluntary contributions of up to 6 percent of their income from their total taxable income; 2) self-employed workers, appointed workers, and their employer businesses are eligible for the deductions; and 3) the electronic settlement declaration and payment system will automatically calculate the deduction.
