Tennessee Lets Certain Minors Work Where Alcohol Sales Prevalent

Tennessee minors ages 16 and 17 may work for businesses that receive over one-fourth of their total gross receipts from alcohol sales, under a bill (HB 1212) that went into effect March 23.

Previously, if average monthly gross receipts from alcohol sales exceeded 25% of a business’s total gross receipts, the business could not employ anyone under age 18. Under HB 1212, these businesses still may not employ minors ages 15 and under.
