- Suspension on trucker’s hours during coronavirus is extended
- Extension to expire June 14
The temporary suspension of truckers’ service-hours requirements during the new coronavirus crisis was extended to June 14, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said May 13.
Emergency Declaration No. 2020-002, issued on March 13, previously was extended three times, the administration said on its website.
The hours-of-service relief applies to motor carriers and drivers transporting essential supplies, equipment, and people as part of efforts to respond to the Covid-19 crisis, including transport of groceries, raw materials, fuel, the liquified gasses used in refrigeration or cooling systems, as well as medical personnel and materials.
Excluded from the temporary rules were drivers making routine commercial deliveries and those transporting mixed loads that include supplies, equipment, or people unrelated to the pandemic.
