Uruguay’s government will raise the national minimum wage by 5.5% as of Jan. 1, the presidency said in a statement citing Labor and Social Security Minister Pablo Mieres.
- Minimum wage to rise to 22,628 pesos
- Mieres said the wage increase should be above the inflation rate for 2023
- In Feb., a group of workers and business leaders will meet to discuss improvements to productivity
