Utah announced its unemployment insurance tax rates and wage base for 2025 on the Department of Workforce Services website.
Tax rates for employers will range from 0.2% to 7.2%, according to the website. Delinquent employers may be assessed an additional 1% surcharge.
New employers will generally be subject to an industry-specific tax rate, according to the website. However, new out-of-state contractors will be assigned a rate of 7.2%, or the maximum tax rate allowed under state law. The rate for out-of-state contractors does not apply if they purchase an existing business.
