Utah announced its unemployment insurance tax rates and wage base for 2026 on the Department of Workforce Services website.
Tax rates for employers will range from 0.1% to 7.1%, according to the website. Delinquent employers may be assessed an additional 1% surcharge.
New employers are generally subject to an industry-specific tax rate, according to the website. However, new out-of-state contractors will be subject to a 7.1% tax rate, which is the maximum tax rate in effect. The rate for out-of-state contractors does not apply if they purchase an existing business.
