Utah’s unemployment-taxable wage base is to be $38,900 in 2021, up from $36,600 in 2020, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Workforce Services said Nov. 18.
Effective Jan. 1, unemployment tax rates are to range from 0.2% to 7.2%, the spokeswoman told Bloomberg Tax in an email.
For 2021, tax rates for new employers, including those that are contractors with headquarters outside the state, are to range from 1.2% to 7.2%.
Unemployment tax rates are to include a social cost of 0.2% in 2021, up from 0.1% in 2020.
