Utah Updates Withholding Methods, Effective June 1, 2026

Utah’s withholding methods were updated April 27 by the state tax commission following the state’s latest income tax rate reduction.

The Publication 14, Withholding Tax Guide, effective June 1 decreases the income tax rate used to 4.45%, from 4.5%. The base allowances used in the withholding schedules increased to $485 annually for single employees or $970 annually for married employees, up from $450 or $900.

The bill decreasing the income tax rate, S.B. 60, was signed by Gov. Spencer Cox (R) March 23.
