Effective Oct. 1, 2021, Venezuela is changing its currency to the digital bolivar from the sovereign bolivar, according to an announcement (Spanish) from the Banco Central De Venezuela. The currency will be revalued at an exchangeable rate of 1 digital bolivar equaling 1,000,000 sovereign bolivars (U.S. $0.25).
Venezuela last updated its currency in 2018 to the sovereign bolivar from the strong bolivar.
