Virginia Requires Employers to Provide Paid Sick Leave

Virginia employees must begin accruing at least one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, under a bill effective July 1, 2027.

HB 5 applies to employers with at least 50 employees starting July 1, 2027, to employers with at least 25 employees starting Jan. 1, 2028, and to employers with at least one employee starting Jan. 1, 2029.
