Washington Family-Leave Insurance Tax Rate to Increase in 2023

The total contribution rate for Washington’s state family-leave insurance program will rise to 0.8% from 0.6% effective Jan. 1, 2023, the state employment security department announced in an Oct. 20 press release.

The percentage split for employer and employee contributions will also change for 2023. Employers with at least 50 employees will be required to pay 27.24% of the total premium due, and employees will pay the remaining 72.76%. In comparison, employers pay 26.78% and employees pay 73.22% in 2022.
