West Virginia Unemployment Tax Rates

Effective Jan. 1, 2019, West Virginia’s unemployment tax rates are to be unchanged from 2018, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Commerce told Bloomberg Tax in an email Sept. 14.

For 2019, unchanged from 2018, unemployment tax rates for experienced employers are to be determined with Column C and are to range from 1.5 percent to 4.5 percent for positive-rated employers and from 6.5 percent to 8.5 percent, including a surtax of 1 percent, for negative-rated employers.
