Wheeling, W.Va., introduced a city service fee withheld from employees’ wages, effective Jan. 1, 2020, the city government said.
The service fee is $2 a week for residents and nonresidents who work in Wheeling, but employees must work in the city for at least 30 days in a year to be subject to the fee, an ordinance said. Employees with multiple jobs must only pay the fee once, the ordinance said.
The fee has a quarterly return due by the end of the month following the end of the quarter, city regulations said.
