LA Port’s April Imports Top Last Year’s Front-Loading Rush (1)

Import volumes through the Port of Los Angeles in April surpassed the same month last year, when importers were rushing to bring goods in ahead of President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

The Southern California trade gateway processed 460,020 container units in April, a 1.5% increase over last year, and 21% over March, said port Executive Director Gene Seroka. “That’s significant, because last year’s numbers were already elevated as importers front loaded cargo ahead of tariff changes.”
