All IRS Employees Should Work During a Shutdown, CPA Group Says

The IRS should update its government shutdown contingency plan to allow for all employees to continue to work during the filing season, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants said in a letter to the IRS and Treasury Department Monday.

The current plan in the event of a government shutdown is for the the IRS to furlough most of its workforce and keep about a third of its employees working using funds from the Inflation Reduction Act, special compliance funding, and user fees.
