Burgum Targets Biden’s Interior Department Rules for Rollbacks

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum on Monday identified for possible rollback at least 27 Interior Department climate and conservation-related actions from the Biden administration.

The three secretarial orders aim to implement President Donald Trump’s executive orders declaring an energy emergency, opening federal lands to more oil and gas drilling, and calling for broad deregulation across federal agencies.

In an order titled “Unleashing American Energy,” Burgum directed Interior Department agencies to create a plan to revise, rescind, or suspend Interior Department rules and decisions made during former President Joe Biden’s administration that focus on climate change, clean energy, and conservation.
