The District of Columbia could be in for significant tax system changes, including the repeal of several taxes and fees levied on businesses, under a sweeping proposal floated late Friday.
But the resulting tax losses would be backfilled with a new tax on businesses’ gross receipts, higher taxes on multistate corporations, and a new type of tax on technology companies that extract data from district residents.
