Decluttering Tax Legislation a Top Priority for EU Commission (1)

The EU Commission is focused on decluttering the bloc’s tax rules in light of companies starting to report the global minimum tax, an official for the bloc’s executive said.

The executive is undertaking a systematic mapping of all tax direct legislation to identify duplication, nix some reporting, and determine if simplifications can be developed, according to Benjamin Angel, the Commission’s director of direct taxation.

“It’s a very serious, systematic examination,” Angel said Thursday at a panel at the International Fiscal Association’s Congress in South Africa on Thursday.
