EPA Touts Carbon Capture Feasibility in Power Plant Case Brief

New emission regulations for coal-fired power plants do not rely on “novel” or unfeasible technology as claimed by industry and states, according to an initial brief from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The federal government’s third attempt to stem greenhouse gases from utilities provides tried and tested means for companies to comply, and doesn’t raise major questions of policy reserved for Congress, according to the government’s response filed Oct. 11.

Justice Department attorneys also insist that the standards are not a “one-size-fits-all” approach at the problem.
