The $24 million settlement the US women’s soccer team reached with the US Soccer Federation Inc. in their landmark pay discrimination settlement shouldn’t be approved until the fees for the team’s lawyers are reduced, former player Hope Solo said.
The pact as currently structured would pay class counsel $6.6 million in attorneys’ fees and $1.3 million in expenses, Solo said. Those amounts will come out of the $22 million portion of the settlement dedicated to monetary awards for current and former team members.
