As Congress barrels toward a March 14 deadline to fund the government, House Republicans unveiled a full-year continuing resolution Saturday that includes an additional rescission of $20.2 billion of IRS enforcement funding.
The Trump administration requested such a rescission but Democrats oppose the pullback of funding they gave the agency in their 2022 tax-and-climate law called the Inflation Reduction Act.
The law initially provided the IRS with roughly $80 billion in total, including an additional $45.6 billion in enforcement funding, but lawmakers clawed back about $20 billion of that in the fiscal 2024 spending law.
