Immigrant Groups Lose Bid to Stop IRS Sharing Nonresidents’ Info

Two Chicagoland groups that provide services to immigrants haven’t proven the need for a restraining order to stop the IRS from providing tax information to other government officials that could be used to aid in deportations.

Judge Dabney L. Friedrich of the US District Court for the District of Columbia denied the restraining order sought by the not-for-profit groups—Centro de Trabajadores Unidos and Immigrant Solidarity DuPage—ruling that they lacked standing to press their claims that the IRS was imminently preparing to provide information to the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or President Donald Trump.
