Indiana became the seventh state to enact a comprehensive privacy law giving consumers increased control over what data is collected about them and how when Gov. Eric Holcomb (R) signed Senate Bill 5 into law late Monday.
The Indiana law, which received unanimous approval in the state General Assembly, follows closely behind Iowa’s as the latest statewide measure to join a growing national patchwork as many other states consider privacy legislation. California was the first state to pass comprehensive legislation, followed by Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Virginia.
