The IRS has completed about 33% of its transformation initiatives using the tens of billions in funding from Democrats’ 2022 tax-and-climate law, with more in progress, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration said Thursday.
The IRS last year released its Strategic Operating Plan detailing how it will spend the nearly $80 billion it got from what’s called the Inflation Reduction Act across 42 initiatives, representing 400 projects.
TIGTA found that of the 58 milestones, the IRS has completed 33%, with 62% of milestones in progress and 5% delayed as of Sept. 30,2023.
