A partner at accounting firm Marcum LLP is suing the Securities and Exchange Commission, seeking to block the agency from pursuing what he calls an “entirely unprecedented” case against him in the agency’s in-house system.
The SEC has paused several administrative proceedings involving accountants while the US Supreme Court considers a constitutional challenge to the agency’s system. But Edward Hackert said the agency is refusing to wait on his case.
