The California city of Lancaster can’t sue Netflix, Inc. and Hulu, LLC for nonpayment of 5% video service provider fees, a state trial court judge said in another win for streaming services facing similar lawsuits around the country.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Yvette M. Palazuelos sustained requests from the companies to dismiss the city’s lawsuit, saying Lancaster doesn’t have standing to sue under the state law at issue, the Digital Infrastructure and Video Competition Act.
