NY Democratic Socialists Press Albany Mandate after Mamdani Win

Zohran Mamdani’s fellow democratic socialists in the New York state legislature want to push Albany closer to adopting their legislative agenda in the aftermath of him being elected mayor of New York City on a wave of anti-establishment frustration.

Mamdani, one of six members of the Democratic Socialists of America in the state legislature, has already energized other candidates to launch primary challenges to New York’s Democratic incumbents at multiple levels, including one against US House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
