Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP announced Thursday the promotion of Michael Cardella, Jay Cosel and Robert Stevenson to tax counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C., and New York offices.
Cardella, based in D.C., advises US and international clients on a range of US income tax matters, including mergers and acquisitions prior to or following spin-off transactions. Cardella has significant experience advising clients in connection with tax-efficient spin-offs, as well as mergers, acquisitions and other transactions.
Stevenson, also in D.C., advises both US and international clients on a broad range of tax matters. He frequently works on international tax matters, including cross-border acquisitions and joint ventures, public and private company mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs and subpart F and foreign tax credit planning. Stevenson also advises clients in the financial services sector on insurance-related corporate transactions, including reinsurance transactions, restructurings and related matters.
Cosel, based in New York, advises clients on a broad range of corporate, partnership and international tax matters. He structures and provides tax advice on business transactions and assists clients with international tax planning strategies. He has extensive experience in international tax issues, including subpart F, foreign tax credits, cross-border restructuring and investments by foreign investors in the US.
