States Solicit Industry Input on Taxing Bundled Digital Products

A Multistate Tax Commission work group will convene stakeholder meetings to examine the ways technology, communications, and e-commerce companies bundle digital products and services, attorneys with the intergovernmental tax agency said.

Commission General Counsel Nancy Prosser said the digital products work group is trying to gain a broader perspective on the diversity of bundled products and services sold to consumers and businesses. Thus MTC staff will solicit input from business groups, taxpayers, and tax advisers over the next two months in industry-focused meetings that won’t involve state tax administrators, she said during an online meeting Thursday.
