What Part of Tax Law Would You Like to Change? Share Your Views

Sept. 1, 2023, 1:00 PM UTC

Every tax professional wishes they could make one change in the tax world—a revision to the federal tax code, a state tax deduction, clear agency guidance—the list goes on. We want to know what you’d change if you could.

Bloomberg Tax Insights & Commentary is collecting a series of short essays highlighting practitioners’ thoughts about, and solutions to, some of the most challenging rules for tax practitioners. We’ll publish five responses on The Exchange, one per day, from Oct. 23–27 during what we call Tax Pro Week.

For this series, submissions should be no more than 300 words. Works must be original—we don’t publish articles that have been or will appear elsewhere. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 29, 2023.

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Bylines: Let us know your name exactly as you want it to appear, including initials.
  • Biographical information: Please submit a bio, ideally one sentence, with your submission.
  • Author photo: Please provide a high-resolution headshot in color (PNG or JPEG).
  • Contract: If we choose your submission, we will send you an author agreement. We won’t publish without a signed agreement.

Our editing team will review your article to ensure that the piece is clear, conversational, and compelling. We’ll return an edited version to you for review—and a chance to make any changes—before publication.

We’ll also do a special roundup of essays and sharing on social media and in our newsletters. After publication, we’ll send you a link to the article for easy sharing and distribution.

Ready to get started? Send your Tax Pro Week answers to rbaker@bloombergindustry.com no later than Sept. 29. Please put the words “Tax Pro Week” in the subject line of your email.
