The IRS Office of Chief Counsel is hiring about 100 new attorneys who will begin their new jobs in the next few weeks, according to the office’s leader.
The substantial influx of young and diverse attorneys is encouraging given the office’s aging staff, Michael Desmond said Oct. 4 at an American Bar Association tax section meeting in San Francisco. “I do lose a lot of sleep over the number of my executives and attorneys that could walk out the door and collect full retirement tomorrow.”
