Ukraine Gives Land, Property Tax Breaks to Help Virus-Hit Economy

March 19, 2020, 5:29 PM UTC

Ukraine is offering businesses and individuals a break from the country’s land and property taxes to counter the adverse economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

  • A new law, officially published Thursday, will exempt taxpayers from paying the land and property taxes from March 1 to April 30, during the spread of Covid-19.
  • The law also introduced a moratorium on tax audits from March 18 to May 31 and suspended some tax-related penalties from March 1 to May 31. Any penalty accrued but not paid during this period could be written off, according to the published law.
