AT&T Denied California High Court Review of Property Tax Case

AT&T Corp., Sprint Communications Co., and T-Mobile West LLC failed to convince the California Supreme Court to review their case challenging how the state assesses property of certain regulated utility companies.

The companies sought refunds of $10.6 million for AT&T and its subsidiary Pacific Bell Telephone Co., $1.47 million for Sprint, and $1.1 million for T-Mobile, for fiscal years 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. They alleged Santa Clara County violated the state constitution by taxing their property at a higher debt-service tax rate than non-utility property.
