Nearly 5 million Indiana residents will receive $200 tax rebate checks under a bill the state’s General Assembly approved Friday.
Lawmakers modified a package that first passed the House last week, reducing the rebates for the 2021 tax year from $225 to $200 and the price tag from $1.15 billion to just under $1 billion. They also expanded eligibility beyond the 4.3 million taxpayers that qualify for the automatic rebate to include as many as 626,000 more people who receive Social Security benefits.
