Several revenue and spending bills have been pre-filed in Louisiana ahead of a special legislative session kicking off Nov. 6 that aims to overhaul the tax code and leave the state with a flat 3% personal income tax.
Seven bills are on the agenda during the 20-day session, reflecting the priorities of Gov. Jeff Landry, who requested the special session Oct. 26. The first-term Republican has been pushing for a short fiscal session since the Legislature adjourned in June, in order to manage a looming $700 million “fiscal cliff” expected after a pair of temporary taxes expire.
