Massachusetts lawmakers on Monday finally approved a budget for the 2024 fiscal year, but failed to reach an agreement on a package cutting taxes by up to $581 million.
Coming a month into the new fiscal year, the Massachusetts House and Senate passed a $56.2 billion budget for 2024, which now goes to Gov. Maura Healey (D) for her signature. Over the past month, the commonwealth had been running on an interim $6.6 billion budget while lawmakers argued over spending plans proposed by Healey and both chambers.
