Nationwide Tax Credit Win Will Get Michigan High Court Review

The Michigan Supreme Court announced Thursday that it will hear mini arguments to decide whether to review a decision allowing Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance Co. to take advantage of certain tax credits.

The Michigan Department of Treasury asked the justices to reverse a 2024 appeals court ruling allowing Nationwide and other affiliated groups to file combined insurance tax returns and receive accompanying benefits. Once a group of separate taxpayers becomes a unitary business group, they cease to be separate taxpayers, the appeals court said.
