Newest Tax Court Judge Brings Pro Bono Experience to the Bench

The newest U.S. Tax Court judge credits a chance meeting at a sandwich shop for jumpstarting the process that led to him joining the bench.

Louisiana attorney Christian N. Weiler was at a Jimmy John’s when he bumped into an old high school friend who worked for Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.). Weiler, who worked for years as a New Orleans tax attorney, asked about openings on the court and ended up sending his friend a resume that was eventually forwarded to the White House.
