Wind Farm Neighbor Asks Texas Justices to Scrutinize Tax Break

The Texas Supreme Court should review a wind farm’s property tax abatement topping $10 million to clarify the requirements for taxpayer standing, the owner of a neighboring property argued.

A state appeals court ruled in May that Suzonne Franks’ alleged injuries—misuse of taxpayer money and diminished property value—aren’t traceable to Glenn Hegar, then-Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, so she didn’t have standing to sue him for approving the abatement.
