A coalition of charitable organizations is lobbying Congress’ top tax writers to include a bipartisan proposal in future tax legislation allowing taxpayers to write off donations to charity, even if they don’t itemize on their tax returns.
The Charitable Giving Coalition led a letter calling on Congress to include bipartisan legislation reinstating the deduction in either an end-of-year tax package or in 2025, when lawmakers address a tax cliff of expiring provisions from the 2017 tax law. Coalition members include the American Heart Association and United Way Worldwide.
