Germany Sees 40% Decrease in Tax Assessment Objections

The number of objections to tax assessments in Germany fell precipitously in 2024, according to new data released by the country’s finance ministry.

The German government data issued Tuesday showed tax objections fell by 40.4% following an explosion of tax challenges in 2023 due to property tax reform. Germany received just 5.9 million objections in 2024 compared to 9.9 million in 2023.

The finance ministry also reported resolving more tax appeals than the previous year, processing about 4.1 million appeals in 2024.
