House Democrats Propose $1 Billion IRS Funding Increase (1)

House Appropriations Committee Democrats on Wednesday released a fiscal 2023 spending bill that includes $13.6 billion for the IRS, a $1 billion increase from its current funding level.

While the House proposal comes in lower than President Joe Biden’s $14.1 billion IRS budget request, it would represent a fourth consecutive year of increased resources for the agency. The proposal from the Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee includes additional funding for both taxpayer services and enforcement.
