Industry Sees Hope for Tweaked EU Energy Tax Policy Plans

A new report laying out how to reenergize Europe’s flagging economy has given industry groups hope that energy taxation policy may give them the boost they need.

The European Commission is still committed to getting a bill approved that would impose minimum EU-wide taxes on electricity and fuel despite its current roadblocks. But business groups believe that a so-called competitiveness agenda could place more friendly tax policies alongside the bill, if not water it down.
