IRS Has 250 Criminal Agents Assisting With Immigration Crackdown

The IRS’s Criminal Investigation division has 250 agents helping the Department of Homeland Security with immigration enforcement, an agency official said.

Justin Campbell, acting deputy chief of IRS CI, said in an interview that those agents are typically involved in immigration enforcement at work sites, which often include employment tax violations as well.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem in February sought the help of IRS employees for immigration enforcement.
