IRS Head of Tax Exempt Division to Be Acting Compliance Chief

Edward Killen, the commissioner of the tax exempt and government entities division at the IRS, will step in as acting chief tax compliance officer following the departure of the current leader, according to an email seen by Bloomberg Tax.

It’s the latest shuffling at the top of the agency, which is under pressure from the Trump administration to share taxpayer data with Elon Musk’s DOGE advisers, and slash its workforce. Heather Maloy, the current IRS chief taxpayer compliance officer, is retiring from the agency March 21.
