IRS Pegs Jan. 29 as Official US Tax Filing 2024 Season Start (1)

The US tax filing season will begin Jan. 29 and end April 15, with the IRS pledging to maintain its improved level of service from the previous year.

Recently flush with an extra tens of billions in funds, the IRS increased the number of phone calls answered fivefold from two years ago and reduced its backlog of paper returns last filing season—goals that the agency plans to meet again.
