Kansas Governor Opposes End to Corporate Income Tax, More Cuts

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly told state lawmakers on Wednesday she opposes legislation to eliminate the corporate income tax and will only consider tax proposals in 2025 that pay for themselves.

In her State of the State address, the Democratic governor touted legislation she signed last year to cut income taxes and the number of tax brackets, reduce statewide property taxes, and repeal the tax on Social Security income. She said she prefers to postpone more discussions about taxes until 2026, “when we have a better handle on the full impact of the tax cuts that we passed last year.”
