Attention now turns to House leaders and the Senate after Democrats joined Republicans to clear the $78 billion bipartisan business break and child tax credit bill in an overwhelming bipartisan panel vote Friday.
The House Ways and Means Committee sent the package to the House floor in a 40-3 vote. The GOP blocked attempts from Democrats to make the child tax credit provisions more robust and raise the state-and-local tax deduction cap, but ultimately Republicans and Democrats acknowledged throughout the markup the legislation is a compromise.
