President Joe Biden’s pick for Treasury’s top tax job has a background working on Capitol Hill, which could prove useful when the administration moves forward with its legislative tax agenda.
The White House announced Thursday that it intends to nominate Lily Batchelder, a tax professor at the New York University School of Law, for the role of Treasury’s assistant secretary for tax policy. Batchelder previously worked in the government, as deputy director of the White House National Economic Council during the Obama administration, and as majority chief tax counsel for the Senate Finance Committee before that.
