Broader Corporate ESG Reporting May Be Skippable at New Rules Onset

The International Sustainability Standards Board said Thursday that it would consider allowing companies to skip broader sustainability reporting in the first year they use the board’s new standards and limit disclosures to just those about climate.

The board said that feedback on its first two draft standards issued in March 2022—covering general sustainability and climate reporting—indicated that companies would find it “challenging” to report all of the sustainability risks they encounter.
